Synopsis:

The first Batman sequel takes a wicked turn with the villainous exploits of the freakish and mean-spirited Penguin (Danny DeVito), whose criminal collaboration with evil tycoon Max Shreck (Christopher Walken) threatens to drain Gotham City of its energy supply. As if that weren't enough, Batman (Michael Keaton) has his hands full with the vengeful Catwoman (Michelle Pfeiffer), who turns out to be a lot more dangerous than a kitten with a whip. As with the first Batman feature, director Tim Burton brings his distinct visual style to the frantic action, but this time there's a darker malevolence lurking beneath all that extraordinary production design.

Michael Keaton returns as the dark knight in this thrilling sequel to the smash original movie. Its Christmas in Gotham City and there have been sightings of a creature called the Penguin, who is living in the sewers underneath the city. Christopher Walken stars as Max Shreck, a businessman who wants to build a power plant in Gotham. Michelle Pfeiffer stars as Selina Kyle, Max's secretary, but she has her own alter-ego. Max is giving a Christmas speech when suddenly, a group of mobsters appears and begins shooting everything in sight. The bat signal is flashed to summon Batman's help. Soon, Batman is speeding on his way in the Batmobile. But is Shreck really as he seems? Is he the "Santa of Gotham", or is he really collaborating with the Penguin, played superbly by Danny DeVito. Penguin asks Shreck's help in "finding himself", and he resorts to blackmailing Shreck to get what he wants. Max agrees to help Penguin in his scheme.

A mesmerizing and haunting achievement; a mixture of bold cinematic techniques that reminded me of certain scenes from The Scarlet Empress, or the silent opening of David Lean's Oliver Twist. Marvelous and convincing acting on the part of Danny de Vito, and Christopher Walken and just about everybody else, regardless of the high humour and sustained madness of the narrative. A shining, brilliant and beautiful film. Gripping, entertaining, worth study. I loved it.

THIS IS NOT A DVD!!! THIS IS A 12" LASERDISC AND WILL NOT PLAY IN A DVD PLAYER
