Synopsis:
George Schneider (James Caan) is a gentle, shyly humorous New Yorker who is a new widower. By a series of fluke phone calls he meets Jennie MacLaine (Marsha Mason), a young actress on the rebound from a broken marriage. With George, however, Jennie soon realizes she's falling in love for the second time around. And George is equally smitten with her. George and Jennie marry. They have known each other for 10 days. What begins as a surging, billowing honeymoon in Bermuda soon becomes a tidal wave of trouble. George has a monumental attack of guilt, and finally fear. When they return to New York, Jennie finds she must fight the ghosts of the past in order to live and love in the present. Another unique love story from the pen of Neil Simon.Neil Simon's bright, autobiographical romantic comedy, a big Broadway success, has been adapted to the screen in a screenplay bySimon, directed byRobert Moore, that subtly shifts the emphasis from the play. In the stage version, recently widowed writer George Schneider (James Caan) and his efforts to form a new relationship after years of marriage, was the crux of the story. The film, however, reduces George's role and, instead, emphasizes the character of Jennie MacLaine (Marsha Mason), the actress being wooed by George.I can't count how many times I've seen this movie, and how much I admire Marsha Mason - and like another reviewer, I, too, wanted to be just like Marsha's character in this movie - strong, resilient, classy. Where did she find a cute apartment like that? :-) I like Caan's character in the movie, too. Simon has a winner here, though I often feel alone in that opinion whenever I ask people if they've seen this movie. Most times I get a blank stare... But the lines are witty, the movie inspiring, and I wish I could also find the music to this movie, especially the song that is played at the very end by Marilyn McCoo from The 5th Dimension. Anyway, I keep watching and keep waiting for this to come out in DVD! When oh when will that be???

THIS IS NOT A DVD!!! THIS IS A 12" LASERDISC AND WILL NOT PLAY IN A DVD PLAYER
